Mechanical:
Our
thruster designs, incorporating CyVect's direct drive technology, give
you the advantages of lower cost, increased reliability, improved
performance, and a phenomenal output-to-weight ratio. There are no shaft couplings, motor mounting
brackets, noisy gearboxes, or extra bearings that would otherwise be needed. With fewer moving parts,
our approach allows for
a more reliable and compact design with the added benefit of being extremely quiet. Our
thrusters are so quiet that, for example, the only indication
that a thruster is working is to see large volumes of water move!
Heat Transfer Fluid:
We use a special insulating oil, a dielectric fluid, that has the ability to cool the motors even better
than transformer oil. It is environmentally friendly with a greater biodegradation rate than standard oils.
Our enhanced cooling performance allows CyVect thrusters
to be smaller in size and weight, thereby increasing power density. The heat
transfer fluid is nearly 10% lighter than mineral oil and has much less
viscosity, again increasing power density.
